I joined the graduate scheme in 2012, and am currently working within Brand.
My experience of the graduate scheme so far has been extremely enjoyable and the different projects I have been involved in as part of the Brand department mean no day is ever the same. The learning curve has been steep but great fun and the experience I’ve gained in such a short space of time has been and will be invaluable throughout my career.
I studied Fashion Marketing and Communication at Nottingham Trent University and have always had a keen interest in retail, business, and creative arts. The brand graduate scheme at Wilko incorporated elements of all of these disciplines, and it’s great to understand how the process works behind the scenes to deliver what you see in stores.
I joined the Buying graduate scheme, and am now in a permanent role as an Assistant Buyer.
I did a combined Psychology with Public Policy and Management degree at Aston University, which also involved a year in industry. I’ve really valued the opportunity to work across a wide range of departments, and the Wilko graduate scheme appealed to me as it gave you an opportunity to spend time understanding every single part of the buying process.
I work within Visual Merchandising, I have been heavily involved in major projects and been given a lot of trust and responsibility from an early stage in the programme, from styling new concept stores to creating exciting Press Shows. I learn on the job and have had the opportunity for lots of hands on experience.
I studied Textile and Surface design at Gray’s School of Art and realised at an early stage that I loved styling the products I was creating. The Wilko graduate scheme gave me a perfect opportunity to enter a reasonably new Visual Merchandising team and make a real difference to a large company.
I currently work in retail after completing the General Management graduate scheme. The best thing about the general management scheme was that it gave me the opportunity to work across a wide range of departments, which was great for making new contacts and for gaining an insight into the wider business.
I studied Business Administration and Human Resource Management at Keele University. I applied to work at Wilko’s because I had realised that working in retail was what I wanted to do, and the scheme I applied for offered a great opportunity to work across a wide range of functions within an expanding company with a clear vision for the future.
I joined Wilko on the Finance graduate scheme and I now have a permanent role as an Accounts Assistant.
I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2010 with a 1st class honours degree in Business. I applied for the company because it had a good reputation as a great place to work. I knew I wanted a career in Accountancy when I applied for the scheme and the best part for me has been the full CIMA study support.
I joined the General Management Scheme in 2010 and having completed the scheme, I’m now a Junior Buyer in Procurement.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2010 with a 2nd class honours degree in Languages: Chinese and Spanish. I applied for the company because I hadn’t made a decision about my career path, and the Wilko graduate scheme offered the opportunity to work across a whole range of different departments, gaining hands-on experience from across the business.
